The purpose of the Women’s State Legislative Council is to investigate and study state and national issues with a goal to bring about legislation beneficial to the State of Utah. The group currently has 95 dues-paying members equally balanced with active Republican and Democratic women. Approximately 50 of the members regularly attend the weekly meetings during the legislative session. The March 18 meeting is our wrap-up session.
The 2020 WSLC Candidate Forum will focus on Women and Family Issues and ask the candidates to address how they would support and promote those issues if elected. Each candidate will have 10 minutes. It is suggested each candidate take 8 minutes to discuss these issues and then allow 2 minutes for questions and answers. Candidate can modify that schedule if desired but cannot go beyond 10 minutes. We will have timers to gently notify the candidate when the time has expired.
All 7 declared Republican Candidates and 1 Democrat candidate have been included.
Candidate Jan Garbett will present at 12:41p.m.
WSLC members understand that good plans and schedules can go wrong. If a candidate is delayed, please contact Heidi Balderree at 801-367-5085 and keep her posted of your arrival time. Safety is the number one concern. At the same time, we ask candidates and their staff to be understanding if we are off schedule because we have accommodated another candidate. All efforts will be made to stay on schedule while at the same time accommodating all.
